Suddenly and peacefully at his home in Sutton West on Sunday March 9, 2003 at the age of 59 years. Scott Richards, beloved husband of Linda (nee Dawe). Loving father of Eric of Toronto and Ash at home. Dear brother of Derek and his wife Merle of St. Catherines and their family. Nephew of Fraser Hinton. Son in law of Margaret and Gordon Dawe of Sault Ste Marie.
Scott grew up on the many R.C.A.F. bases around the world. He aspired to music and was one of the founding pioneers of the Canadian music industry after having played with such groups as David Clayton Thomas and the Shays during the 1960’s. During the 70’s Scott worked with Decca records, RCA (BMG Music) and was General Manager and V.P. of MCA (Universal Music). Scott founded Freedom Records in the 80’s and also began teaching at Harris Institute for the Arts. Currently Scott was VP of Music Solutions Inc. with his wife Linda. Scott volunteered on the Board of Directors of the Red Barn Theater, Jackson’s Point, played weekly with the Jeff Smith trio at Christ Church, Roches Point and St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Keswick.
Visitation will be held at the Taylor Funeral Home, 20846 Dalton Road, Sutton, Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A Masonic Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Thursday at 6:30pm.
